Womens Edition

Rare solid brass cast of the "Buffalo Courier's Women's Edition" poster designed by artist Alice Russell Glenny in the late 1890's. This cast is a 3D representation of that famous poster. The buckle features the text "Womens" on the top and "Edition" on the bottom of the round buckle. The back has some text that is difficult to make out. It looks like One or Lone Star Buckle Co., which I couldn't find any information on either. It has a date of 1977 visable on the back and a star imprinted into the back as well. The buckle design is excellent in that it sits comfortably on a belt because of it's curved design and has a large sturdy tooth to stay secure on a leather belt. This is from old stock, safely stored, never owned or worn by anyone. Vintage NOS (New Old Stock). Belt not included.

About Alice Glenny
Alice Russell Glenny (1858–1924) was an American graphic artist, painter and sculptor. She lived and worked in Buffalo, New York. Glenny was involved in the artistic scene in Buffalo in the early 1900's. Alice served as president of the Buffalo Society of Artists from 1893-1894 and 1903–1904. She studied under William Merritt Chase and Gustav Boulanger. She was considered in her time to be one of the city's top artists.
Today, Glenny is best remembered for her magazine illustrations and Art Nouveau posters. Her posters were featured prominently in Buffalo's Pan-American Exposition of 1901. Alice Glenny also regularly contributed illustrations to the major newspaper in Buffalo, the Buffalo-Courier Express.
